Can Primark still be regarded as a cheap shop?
Welcome back to my blog! This week I will be focusing on the popular shop Primark. Although you may think you know Primark well, this blog will provide a different insight which you may have not considered. Therefore, enjoy the read!
To start off on a good note- there are in fact 2 Primark’s in Glasgow City Centre.
One is situated on Argyle Street and one on Sauchiehall Street. Personally, I prefer the shop on Argyle Street as it is bigger so has more stock. However, if you catch the smaller one on a quiet day you can spot many good finds.
Opening Times-
Argyle Street Store- Mon- Fri: 8am-8pm
Sat: 8am-7pm
Sun: 9am- 7pm
Sauchiehall Street Store- Mon- Sat: 8am-7pm
Sun: 10am- 6pm

Discounts
Unfortunately, Primark do not offer any student or non-student discounts. Therefore, this section will be rather short. However, I feel that we all get too caught up saying “that’s dear for Primark” and it needs to be remembered that if you purchase something like a jacket from most other shops it’s still going to be £50+ dearer. Thus, you are ultimately getting a discount just from the fact you’re shopping here, not to mention some of the extremely cheap clothes you can purchase. For example, I have bought several sets of cycling shorts and tops as they are only £3.50 a piece which I think is a great deal!
Value for Money
Like mentioned above, some items in Primark are great value for money like simple cycling shorts for only £3.50. Additionally, you can get some excellent dupes in store. For example, fake Ugg’s are getting sold for only £6 whereas the actual brand is sold for over £100. Although the quality isn’t great of Primark’s version- you can’t go wrong with £6 boots! However, it is no secret that Primark is not as cheap as it used to be. It could be argued that this is the same as every shop, but the quality has not greatly improved within Primark. Jackets are getting sold for £35 this winter however, I purchased the exact same jacket of the same quality last year for only £20. Thus, the value for money seems lower as not many improvements have been made to the products. Nevertheless, it cannot be forgotten that in comparison to other shops, this can still be regarded as cheap.
Rating
Overall, I will rate Primark a 5/10.
I think it is great for getting cheaper versions of branded products and just picking up simple items. Even though there are no discounts, I would still recommend this shop to people on a budget as there are some great deals here. However, the sizes are not completely inclusive and if the prices continue to increase without the quality following suit, the rating will definitely be lowered.
Thanks again for reading my blog, any comments and options are greatly encouraged!
Stay tuned for my next blog where I will be discussing a less popular shop <3
